Establishing a Memorable Brand for Your Glamping Business
One essential aspect of building a successful glamping business is establishing a strong and memorable brand. With my background in marketing, I have a lot to say on this topic, but I’m mainly here to tell you that anyone can do it — and you don’t need an degree in graphic design to do so.
Establish a Color Palette
The first step is simple: pick your company colors. Colors evoke emotions and play a vital role in branding. Consider colors that reflect the natural beauty and tranquility of your glamping site or ones that resonate with you and your brand's personality.
Consistency in color application across your website, social media, and promotional materials will reinforce your brand's identity and leave a lasting impression. And keep in mind that when I say ‘color palette’, it goes beyond just deciding that your colors will be ‘light blue’ and ‘powder pink’. You need to know the Hex # (or numerical color code) for your exact shades of blue and pink.
Pro Tip: I love playing around with Canva’s Palette Generator for this!
Design a Logo
Now that you have your color palette, you can use that to help design your logo. A logo is the face of your glamping business, and it should encapsulate your unique identity. Will you use thick lines to elicit boldness and strength, or thin lines to elicit elegance and grace? Are your edges straight to imply order and rigidity or curved to imply flexibility and fluidity?
Honestly, there’s a whole science behind the concept of logo design, so if you’re struggling with where to start, it might be helpful to consult with an expert on this. Don’t worry – this is way easier and more accessible than it sounds.
When designing my logo for Simon Sisters, I started by hiring freelance graphic designers through Fiverr Logo Design Services. These are talented designers who can bring your vision to life and create a stunning logo tailored to your preferences. The designers I worked with were affordable, had quick turnaround times, and offered various packages with numerous concept options and revisions. It was a great way to step outside my tunnel vision and consider styles I never knew where an option for me.
Pro Tip: Each Fiverr graphic designer has their own style and interpretation of your business essence. I worked with several designers in my initial logo design phase to expand my breadth of options.
Draft a Brand Book
A brand book serves as a comprehensive guide to maintaining brand consistency and identity. Here is where you outline the fine details of your company branding such as:
Logo usage
Color palette usage
Typography
Tone of voice
Overall brand guidelines
I lean on my brand book when I’m stuck in a creative rut or when I need a guidepost to get me back on track. And most importantly, I cannot tell you the number of times I reference my brand book to grab my color palette Hex #’s.
Pro Tip: Check out Tyson Food’s Brand Book as an example. And keep in mind the brand book itself does not need to be this pretty. Simply defining these areas for your company is the most important part.
Be Consistent
Consistency is key when it comes to building a strong brand for your glamping business. Ensure that your logo, color palette, typography, and overall brand elements are consistently applied across all media points – think your website, social media, ads, signs and placards, brochures, etc. A cohesive brand experience makes you look legit and professional, not to mention it fosters trust and familiarity with your customers.
Be Patient
Building a strong brand takes time, so be patient and trust the process. It’s going to take several attempts to find the branding that matches your personality. Just know that in the early days, you’re going to make some content that will be looking quite cringy in a couple of years.
Don’t worry – we’ve all been there. It’s part of the rite of passage when starting a business. Over time, you’ll find your grove, your brand will gain recognition, and you’ll attract a loyal following.
Establishing your glamping business branding is an organic process, so the sooner you get started, the more time you can spend in the trial and error phase. And if all else fails and you have no idea where to start, I’d recommend working with brand designer at Fiverr to get the ground work started and you can build it up from there.
